Mr Guest one of our Vicars Choral in the Church of Hereford waits upon yr Lordship to resign at ye Living of Westbury in yr Lordship's Diocese before his Year of Grace in the College expires, wch the Chapter have prevailed upon him to do, being unwilling to part wth him, who is so very useful & so great an ornament to ye Quire, & having a Prospect of being able in a very little Time of doing something for him consistent with his Duty there, wch We never yet have had an opportunity of in all the Time he has been wth Us, or else We should have been glad to embrace it, Mr Guest's whole Life & conversation as well as his Voice & Choral Abilities well deserving all the encouragement We can give him - I hope Yr Lp will excuse the Freedom I have taken wth Yr Lp to beer [sic] Testimony to Mr Guest's Character, & at the same Time beg leave to acquaint you that I have prevailed upon Mr Jones of Tiddenham to provide a Curate for Alvington & to consent he shall serve it once every Sunday instead of once a fortnight only, as of late.
