Comment | 'Whereas the Rectory and Parish Church of Stoke Damerel in the County of Devon and our Diocese is under Sequestration and the Reverend William John Saint Aubyn the Rector thereof is Non Resident by Virtue of our Licence And whereas the Population of the said Parish by the last Census appears to be Thirty four thousand eight hundred and eighty three and the clear income of the said Rectory appears to amount to about the sum of nine hundred pounds and whereas at the time of issuing the said sequestration the Reverend William Strong Hore was the Assistant Curate to the said Rector resident in the Parish with the Stipend of One hundred pounds and is still serving the said Cure.
Now we being satisfied that it is necessary for the Spiritual Wants of the Parishioners and the Cure of the said Parish that there should be two Curates resident in the said Parish We do hereby appoint the Reverend John Reevely Mitford to be the Curate of the said Parish and we do assign unto him the yearly stipend of two hundred pounds with the Rectory House and offices for his Residence And we do assign unto the said William Strong Hore as such Assistant Curate the yearly stipend of One hundred pounds and he is reside in the Parish. The Curates respectively to account to the sequestration for all surplice and other fees due to the Rector And we hereby order that the sequestrators of the said Living do pay to the Curates the stipends respectively assigned to them by equal quarterly payments to commence from the time the said John Reeveley Mitford took the duties of the said Parish'. |
