Comment | Location: 'Mawgan and Martin'. This licence is handwritten throughout, presumably in order to record the following: 'Whereas Horatio Mann Clerk Rector of the Rectory of Mawgan and Martin in the County of Cornwall and our Diocese has neglected to nominate to us a Curate for his said Rectory and Parish Churches for the period of three months since the late Curate of the Benefice had removed himself therefrom Now pursuant to the provisions of the Statute in this behalf we do by these presents give and grant unto you the said John White Johns.... our Licence and authority to perform the Office of Stipendiary Curate...' Stipend: 'yearly Stipend of One hundred and fifty Pounds to be paid quarterly for serving the said Cure. And we do assign unto you for your residence the Parsonage House with the Offices Stables Gardens and appurtenances.' |
