Comment | Handwritten on the back of Mr Hore's licence to Stoke Damerel, 'Whereas you William Strong Hore Clerk BA are duly licenced to perform the Office of Stipendiary Assistant Curate in the parish Church of Stoke Damerel in the County of Devon within Our Diocese and Jurisdiction with a Stipend of One hundred pounds and whereas the said Benefice being under Sequestration you have been since the publication thereof on the sixteenth day of February last actually performing the whole duties of the said parish. Now We Henry by divine permission Bishop of Exeter do by these presents revoke the said Licence so far only as regards the Stipend or other matter hereby altered and do hereby Licence you the said William Strong Hore to perform the Office of Stipendiary Curate in the said Parish Church of Stoke Damerel and do assign unto you the yearly Stipend of Two hundred pounds to be paid quarterly for serving the said Cure you accounting for all surplice fees to commence from the said sixteenth day of February last'. |
