Mr Shaw both vitious and superstitious, hath set up a stone altar where he reades second service in his passage to it hee sings psalm 26.6:
My hands I wash & doe pr'ceede
In workes to walke upright
Then to this altar I make speede
to offer there in sight.
Hee makes also the person that doth penance, to kneele there, and receive absolution from him, hee writes also in the church bible and will let none reade it. The parsonage is impropriate to one Mr Prosser of Norton, a known recusant Papist who placed the vicar there. |
