Comment | RICHMOND DEANERY
Apart from the named Vicars of Blackburn and Whalley:
'The rest are poor curats'
'The contribution to the King for the warres agt. the SCots made by the L: Bp. DEan & Chapter & Clergy of Chester diocese: ao. 1639'
Payments dated from 20 March 1638[/9] to 17 Aug. 1639, with later payments 11 June 1640 (to the civil authorities) and 26 August 1640 (to the Bishop?).
The great bulk of payments seem to have been made over to Sir William Udall at York in May 1639.
The entries for Furness Deanery onwards (i.e. the Lake District and Yorkshire Deaneries) are specified:
'more Contribution to the King, against the Scots ao. 1638 and 1639' |
