| Allbut planned to be ordained deacon on two earlier occassions. He had papers prepared for ordination at York 29/7/1832, but his name is crossed out on the ordination lists and 'let.dim to bp Lincoln 1832' written on. The York Institution Act Books record ordination 23/9/1832 following a let. dim. 17/9/1832, which is presumably an error since a letter from Allbut dated 1/10/1832 requests a let. dim. to Durham.
