Petition to William, Archbishop of Canterbury: "The humble petition of William Johnson... sheweth that the pet'ner hath been for eight years last past one of the Fellowes of Clare Hall in Cambridge and hath the testimonials of the Master and Fellowes of that Colledge on his Behalfe. That the pet. is to be received Chaplaine to the Lord Bishop of Salisbury so soone as he can obtaine his ordination. That the Lord Bishop of Salisbury hath appointed a day for ordination of the pet. (and others) He therefore most humbly desireth your Graces Dispensacion to be ordained Priest and Deacon together at one and the same time." "Fiat. W.Cant." the date is the date of the "Fiat" not the petition. |
