Certificate served Bath Easton 26/3/1797 to date 7/8/1797 Document entitled 'The Case': In the early part of his life Mr James was educated at the expence of Lady Huntingdon & after passing through their accustomed forms was ordained at one of her chapels (I think that in Spa Fields) by two of her first & most esteem'd preachers. Soon after he was sent out as an intinerant preacher, & officiated at several places. In particular he had a chapel at Ely, another at Newmarket, & as I am informed, a third at Norwich. After many temporary residences he at last settled in London where he had a chapel near Carlisle Street Soho for many years, within some few months back Proprietor as well as officiating teacher. At length, however, his followers dropping off, he was under the necessity of looking out for something better. He then sold that property, & by th |
