CommentLetter to Mr Pytts by Hugh Curen, Bishop of Oxford, dated 27 April 1568: The bearer, James Walche, was ordained deacon by Curen when the latter was Archbishop of Dublin at St Patrick's by Dublin (Curen was bishop of the church there because the Dean of St Patrick's was Bishop of Kildare. Walche was later made priest at Kildare by the Bishop of Kildare. 'And the customable ordre of the foresaid Cathedrall churche is that no vicar corall theire hath enny lres of ordres, by meanes Wherof he is destitute. Wherefore I desyre yo to make lres testimoniall of his Deacon and preisthood'.
Letters testimonial, dated 6 May 1568, give dates of Walche's ordinations:
