Upon Tailer's resignation, "The dean thereupon produced a paper schedule under the hand and seal of Edward Abbott, the precentor, to whose office the deprivation or nomination of the master of the choristers belongs, as follows: 'Whereas I have receaved divers complayntes of the neglect of the choristers of Wells, both touching their education and instruccion, and that I have theretofore admonished and warned the master of the said choristers thereof; I doe therefore by vertue of these presentes fully authorize and depute the right worshipfull \Mr Deane of Wells [Barlow] to visitt and examine the said master of the choristers touching any such fault or neglect, as may be justly against him objected, and him the said master to depose and dischardge of his said office', &c. dated Feb. 12 1622". |
