Founded 1660 by james Hiet, Rector of Croston. The school was free to the townships of Croston and Ulneston. In 1720s, every scholar paid 12d. (or 6d, if a cottager's child), apiece for entrance, according to the Founder's order. See Gastrell, Notitia Cestrienses, II, 358.
