High is somewhat mysterious. It does not appear as a chapelry in the records before 1727. Gastrell's surbey of his diocese in the early 1720s makes no mention of it, so it is reasonable to take the first licensing of a curate (1727) as foundation date. However, after that and the appearance of the curate in the 1728 liber cleri, it is not mentioned again. Provisionally the next date for its appearance is 1833, when the chapel was consecrated.
