Local Administrative Units, II, 463-4, gives date of separation as both 1712 and 1735. However, The Cumbria Parishes, 1714-1725 from Bishop Gastrell's Notitia with additions by Bishop Porteus, 1778-1779, ed. L.A.S. Butler, Cumberland and Westmorland Antiquarian and Archaeological Society, vol. 12 (1998), 119, 209, gives the chapel as 'made parochial in An. Dom. 1712 in the usual form and upon the usual conditions by a licence from the Bishop vide Register Book 4' [i.e. made a parochial chapel from a chapel of ease]. In 1779 it was noted that Longsleddale Chpel had been augmented in 1746, 1773 and 1775, and 1746 augmenttation by Queen Anne's Bounty in that year confirmed in J. Nicolson and R. Burn, The History and Antiquities of the countiesd of Westmorland and Cumberland, 2 vols. (1777), I, 133.
