'Goodshaw is situated in Higher Booth, and, although in the Chapelry of Haslingden, is dependent upon Whalley'. In 1650 it was described in the Commonwealth Church Survey as having neither minister nor (save for a messuage and backside worth 10s.) maintenance. In 1704 the Curate of Haslingden described it as within that chapelry of Whalley, and reported that he preached there sometimes, but had nothing for his pains. At the time of Bishop Gastrell's survey in the early 1720s, the chapel was served by the Curate of Altham (also Whalley parish), whom performed divine service and preached there once a fortnight.
