J.P. Earwaker, East Cheshire, 2 vols. (1877-1880), 1.171-2: Established as a chantry chapel by Sir Edmund Shaa (Shaw), Lord Mayor of London and founder of Stockport Grammar School. A stipendiary curate there in 1549-50. If it fell in to disuse, by 1637 Richard Hayhurst was Curate there (citing Mottram registers), and in 1651 plan to augment its income. BY 1662 described as 'now in decay'. Soon after it ws probably repaired, and in 1724 augmented under Queen Anne's Bounty.
