Separated from Acton as part of Wrenbury parish in 1730
c. 1720 Bishop Gastrell noted that by the old rental and public books, Burleydam lay within the chapelry of Wrenbury. 'It is now pretended that it is a Domest[ic] Chap[el] to Sr. Rob. Cotton who puts in the Curate and maintains him, together with his tenants in the neighbourhood who resort to it'. Gastrell, Notitia Cestrienses, I, 205.
