A chapel of ease under Askrigg chapel. Bishop Gastrell noted, c. 1722: 'no certain endowment of salary: paid by Lord Lonsdale during pleasure £4 p.a. and by Trinity College during pleasure £2 p.a.....Nearly 10 miles from parish church. Divine service is performed twice every Sunday.
