1725 is a generous last date. By Gastrell's time, 'Now decayed; some of the Walls only are standing'. Gastrell also notes that there had been a font in the chapel in 1643', Gastrell, Notitia Cestrienses, I, 118. According to ormerod's county history, the chapel was 'desecrated' by the early 19C and being used as a cowshed, G.
