Bishop Gastrell noted, 'Here are 2 private schools, and only £45 endowment, Interest of which is divided equally between the 2 Masters.' The endowment, for teaching 10 poor boys, made by Isaac Towers (will dated 1659), with a further £23 given by John Middleton.
