Now known as Sacred Trinity, but this name was only offically adopted in 1859. Administrative History: The foundation stone of Trinity Chapel, established by Humphrey Booth and others was laid in 1634 and the chapel consecrated on 20 May 1635. It was rebuilt in 1752-1753. It was assigned a District by Order in Council, 14 September 1838 (London Gazette, 29 March 1839). In 1842 by Bishop's Instrument, 6 December 1842, part of the District was assigned to the new St. Matthias, Salford, and a further part assigned to St. Simon's, Salford, by Order in Council, 30 January (London Gazette, 10 February 1846). The boundaries of the parish were re-defined by Order in Council, 24 June 1856 (London Gazette, 1 July). Until 1859 the registers refer to the church as Trinity or Holy Trinity, but from 1859 it is referred to as Sacred Trinity. In 1974 by Bishop's Order 20 June (London Gazette, 18 October 1974) the name was officially changed to Sacred Trinity.
