Odd Rode is a township in Astbury parish. The school was founded in 1681 by William Peover and others witha bequest of £155. Gastrell notes, 'Given to the school here by Rob. Wilkinson 15s. p[er] an[num], W. Bradely 25s.; Rog. Wilbraham 10s.; Ran. Kent 5s.; R. Thompson 2s.'. Odd Rode's endowmens allowed the purchase of a small farm of 24 acres to support schoolmaster and school. D.
