Venn: Adm. at KINGS a scholar from Eton 1681, doubtless son of John of Fairford, clerk, born Fairford. Matric. Easter 1682; BA 1685/6; MA 1689; fellow. R of Toft, Norfolk 1717-50; R of Haddiscoe 1739-50; R Leasingham 1739; died 1750 aged 93 (sic). (see Harwood; Blomefield VIII, 63. (Venn states that possibly this man and his son Benjamin (1718/19) [ordained 1722/3] have been confused.
VCH for Norfolk seems clear that the father was C of Aldeby, Norfolk 1703 until 1717; and rector of Toft Monks from 1717 to 1750, in which case no reason to doubt the institutions there in 1717 and again in 1740, which may have been necessary when Toft was annexed with Haddiscoe).
