Foster: son of John of Oxford city, Med. Doc; baptised in St Mary's Oxon 06/07/1608. Matriculated Magdalen Hall Oxford 02/07/1624, aged 16; BA from Balliol College 01/02/1627 ns, fellow Merton College 1629, MA 01/07/1633, created BD 12/04/1648, and DD 24/07/1649; president of St John's College 1648-50, Margaret professor of divinity 1648-52; member of the Westminster Assembly, and a parliamentary visitor in 1647; elected canon of Worcester 1648, but never installed, vicar of Marston st Laurence 1637, rector of Petworth, ejected after the restoration. Died at Preston Sussex 09/1665; father of John (Trinity, 1664).
