F.R.S., 1830. ;He owned the advowson of Caldecote, but, as neither that parish nor the adjoining one had a resident clergyman, he proposed to unite the 2 parishes, and sold the advowson of Caldecote to the patron of the other parish, giving the purchase money to build a parsonage for the united parishes-an incident characteristic of the man.' Married, 1835, his cousin, Caroline Elizabeth, dau. of Lieut.-Col. Richard Warren, 3rd Foot Guards, but had no issue. Author, Treatise on the geometrical representation of the square roots of negative quantities. Died Aug. 16, 1852 at Bangor. Brother of William (1822).
