Ord. deacon (Norwich) June 10, 1827; priest, May 24, 1829 (Horatio W.). C. of Methwold, Suffolk, in 1837. Emigrated to Canada and settled near London, Ontario, in 1838. A linguist and a man of culture. Married Clarissa Andrews [their son, Richard Maurice Bucke (1837-1902), the well-known alienist, physician and author, and friend of Walt Whitman, was born at Methwold, Suffolk]. Died Mar. 31, 1856, aged 54, at Sarnia at the residence of his son, George Walpole Bucke, Esq. (G. Mag., 1856; Dictionary of Canadian Biography, 1934.)
