The appointment at Gloucester (as morning lecturer with permission to reside at Maisemore, 2 miles from Gloucester) is deduced from his friendship with Bishop Ryder of Gloucester whose examining chaplain he was, and that his son (William Stephen Raikes) was born in 1821 at his residence at Maisemore Court.
