Venn: Adm. sizar aged 17 ST JOHN'S 10 May 1655; son of James (?1626) cler. of Hinderwell-in- Cleveland, North Riding of Yorkshire; bapt. there 20 July 1637; school Easington (Mr Smelt); matric 1655; perhaps C of Skelton and Brotton, Yorks 1661, "B.A."; one of these names R of Cranwich 1667-89.
Cranwich linked with Icklingham by personal union; English Heritage cite memorial in Icklingham church to John Talbot, vicar who died there aged 50 in 1689 - this may be year out for the age given at adm. to Clare, but seems to be this man. Icklingham St James wrongly recorded to John Talbot ID 12759
