Foster: son of William of Eastham, Worcs., cler. (CCEd ID 174439), BALLIOL, matric. 24 Mar. 1753 aged 19; BA 1756; MA 1761; R of Walesby, Lincs 1787**; V of St Martin, Lincoln and prebendary 1786 until his death 27 Jun. 1803
This man was instituted R of Walesby 2 Jan 1767; he ceded on 4 Jan. 1787 when the patron changed from Richard Dalton to Henry Dalton (both cousins of Robert Malthus) and was re-instituted on 4 Jan. 1787. This is made clear in Patricia James' "Population Malthus: his life and times"; Malthus himself became rector on the death of Watson in 1803 although non resident. The Walesby dates and the fact that that Watson was master of Haverfordwest school is noted in several newspapers of 1767 and 1787
