Some uncertainty here - there is no evidence of a Robert Atkinson in Foster which fits; date of ordination as priest (the first of the two below) is 13/3/1585/6 preceding the deacon ordination 20/3/1585/6 - assume 13th is scribe's error - duplicate ordination records give 20/3/1585/6 for both ordinations by Bp. Peterborough.
See saxilbyhistory.org.uk which states he had been vicar of Blyton, transferred to Glentworth, that in 1604 he was regarded as a leading 'non-conformist and puritan', excommunicated for not wearing surplice and not observing other liturgical practices, was absolved on promise to obey and was from 1625 paid £20 per year to preach and read lectures on Wednesdays as the mayor of Lincoln appointed. Ties up with the resignation in 1624 from Glentworth.
