A man of simple, sweet disposition and fine presence, much revered in the neighbourhood. In his time the church was restored and church schools built. Thrice married, his second wife being a sister of R. D. Blackmore the novelist. Died Aug. 12, 1883, aged 73, at Weston-super-Mare. Father of the next. (Peile, 11. 442; Scott, MSS.)
