Ord. deacon, 1796, as C. to Charles Simeon at Holy Trinity, Cambridge. C. of Holy Trinity, Cheltenham. Chaplain to the East India Company in Bengal, 1808-29, being "one of the five Evangelical Chaplains nominated by Simeon." Married (1) Jan. 1799, Elizabeth, eldest dau. of James Fawcett, of Scaleby Castle, Yorks. (founder of the European Female Orphanage, Calcutta); (2) Dorothy -.
