Foster: son of John of Woburn, Beds., pleb., NEW COLLEGE, matric. 27 Jan 1726/7 aged 19; BA 1731; MA 1741.
Decision to merge with the PC of Kimbolton and Middleton on the Hill, Herefs. was taken, for the following reasons: www.thekingscandlesticks.com - a family site for parts of the Alstom family says he was an entirely absent incumbent from Swithland - he could therefore have then been at Kimbolton etc. Also notice in the 9 July 1761 edition of the General Evening Post from an Assurance company calling for persons with an interest in the will of Rev. Philip Alton, bachelor, states that he was 'late curate of Poplar, Middx and late rector of Swithland; also the same family website lists another of this name, MA, (but suggests, since they can't find him in Venn or Foster, surmise he must have been awarded a Lambeth degree - unlikely) and list his preferments as 1746-59 at All Saints' Poplar, and 1759-60 at Kimbolton. This makes it likely it is the same person despite some variation on dates of death between 7/10/1760 at Kimbolton, 15/1/1761 at Paulerspury, 18/5/1761 - this sort of delay is usual in eccl. records.
