Held St Leonard's Eastcheap with Lewisham; memorial inscription states that he died 5/12/1657 at Lewisham and 'He founded the free School here, and also built the Almshouses and saved Sydenham Common for the inhabitants of London' (C.H. Fielding ed. 'The Records of Rochester Diocese' [Dartford, 1910], p. 369).
