A staunch Conservative in all ecclesiastical matters, he vigorously opposed the Test and Corporation Acts and other measures of reform. Married, 1784, Jane, eldest dau. of General Adeane, M.P. for Cambridgeshire. Published numerous Sermons and a new edition of his father's Theocracy of Religion. Died Sept. 22, 1845, at Banwell Cottage, Wells, after "a gradual decay of mind and body," which for many years had prevented him from performing his duties. Buried at Wells.
