VCH Lancs., 4.360: In 1622 it was reported that he gave communion to those who sat, and though nobody stood at the Creed or vowed at the name of Jesus, nobody was presented at visitation. In 1648 he signed the Presbyerian 'Harmonious Consent'. In 1650 he was assisted by his son Edmund (who succeeded him in 1659/60 and was ejected. In April 1659 John was still 'minister of Eccles'.
