A warm sympathiser with Queen Caroline; preached a famous sermon in Bristol Cathedral on the Sunday following George IV's coronation from the text, ‘Belshazzar the King made a great feast,’ and ending with a reference to the King's wives and concubines. Known in consequence as ‘Belshazzar Randolph.’ Domestic Chaplain and English Instructor to the Duchess of Kent in the little court at Amorbach, Bavaria, shortly before the birth of Princess Victoria. Engaged in the Socinian controversy. Author, A Few Observations on the State of the Nation. Died June 14, 1831, at Bristol; buried in Bristol Cathedral Churchyard. M.I. in Banwell Church.
