The only LLB in V/F is VENN: as PRICE (AP RICERHETIUS) B.Civ.L. 1535-6, after study at Oxford, and practice in the Arches ('Grace, or act of the University, mostly for degrees.'Gr. Bk, I, 305, 311). S. of Rhys Vawr ap Meredydd, Standard-bearer to Henry VII at Bosworth. Fellow of All Souls, Oxford, 1523. ' B.Civ.L. 1524; ' B.Can.L. 1531. The principal registrar for ecclesiastical causes in 1535. Knighted, Mar. 2, 1546-7. M.P. for Brecon, 1547-52; for Hereford, 1553; for Ludlow, 1554. Sheriff of Brecknock, 1541. Author of three historical treatises. Died c. 1573. One of these names, B.C.L. from Broadgates Hall, Oxford, 1534; ' B.Can.L. 1535, identified in Al. Oxon. with the John Price knighted in 1546-7, but this seems doubtful. For another John Price, LL.D., Chancellor of St Asaph, 1559, see D. R. Thomas, I. 252. (Al. Oxon.; D.N.B.)
There seems no Salisbury connection but Malmesbury was in the gift of the King.
