These are now in Hereford Cathedral Library, some inscribed 'E. Doughtie, June 23, 1596: jure belli.' Dean of Hereford, 1607-16. R. of Hampton Bishop, Hereford, 1609. V. of Badenham. J.P. Earwaker, East Cheshire, 2 vols. (1877-1880), 1.383-4: On 9 June, 12 James [1614], shortly after Richard Kenyon had been instituted Rector of Stockport, letters patent were granted presenting Doughtie to the Rectory upon the death of Jenyon's predecessor Richard Gerrard (d. 1614). Earwaker suggests that there had been 'something informal' about Kenyon's presentation, probably owing to the outlawry of John Warren, esq., of Poynton, patron of Stockport. Kenyon was bur. on 27 July 1615. Doughtie was instituted on 1 Aug., and one of the3 records of the institution states that he was instituted upon the vacancxy created by Gerrard's death.
