The above identification seems likely, except that the preb. of Grimston was DD on his institution in 1660 as was the R of Petworth in 1669. The entry in Venn may refer to his incorp. at Oxford in 1680, as opposed to his being made DD, but the entry in Foster clearly states "incorporated as D.D. 19 Oct. 1680".

Venn (and following him, ODNB) is wrong about the ordination details: these relate to another John Price - Clergy ID 101228.
