in Gelling (1998): D 24/3/1716; chap St Matthews and Master Douglas Grammar School 1716-32; in 1732 became masrter of Crosby Grammar School Liverpool, where remained until d. 1755 aged 62; gained reputation of faithful and hardworking pastor: V Crosby 1733-55. At St Matthews involved in many "unfortunate" disputes.
