There are several entries for a William Dale in Foster around this time, and appointments for this name that could fit this man (e.g. 12892). Foster seems in error at times. The entry below is surely wrong as the rector of 2nd portion Pontesbury, died in 1764, the one at East Lulworth in 1772. The 'melocki'entry for Pontesbury gives William Dale as 2nd portioner from either 1726 or 1739, dying in 1765, buried at Ness Strange, Salop.
Foster entry: son of Roger of Denton, Lancs, cler. TRINITY matric. 23 Oct. 1705 aged 19; BA BNC 17 Feb. 1709/10; MA 1712; perhaps R of Pontesbury (2nd portion) 1726 and of East Lulworth, Dorset 1728; brother of Joseph and of Thomas (1699); see Foster Ind. Eccles.
Further, G. Mag. XCVII part I of 1827 describing memorials in Pontesbury church describes one to Jane Dale, sister to William, then R of Pontesbury 2nd. portion; she died in 1738; their father stated to be, MA. fellow of BNC, chaplain to Duke of Bridgewater, R of Middle, Salop, and of Settringham and Dunnington, Yorks - this is CCED ID 42955
