Adm. at CHRIST'S, Feb. 11, 1780. ' Matric. Michs. 1783; Scholar; B.A., 1784; 1st Chancellor's medal, 1784; M.A. 1787. Ord. deacon (Ely) Dec. 1786; priest (London) Apr. 20, 1788. Stood unsuccessfully for a fellowship; obliged to leave College. Went to America, where he became assistant in a school. Gunning gave him a bad character; could have been 'one of the most distinguished men in the University, but was the idlest of the idle, so low a profligate that he was shunned by all the men of his own standing.' (Peile, II. 311; Gunning, I. 33, 38.)
