P.C. of Dukinfield, Cheshire, in 1841. C. of Muncaster, Cumberland, 1841-4. P.C. of St Thomas, Stockport, 1844-76. Married, May 12, 1842, Georgiana Hodgson, youngest dau. of the Rev. John Richard Thackeray (R. of Hadley, Middlesex, and R. of Downham Market, Norfolk), cousin to William Makepeace Thackeray. Author of a translation of the first six books of Homer's Iliad; The Mystery of Godliness; Liberty, Fraternity and Equality, etc. Died May 24, 1876. Father of William R. (1866). (Manchester Sch.
