Chaplain to the Royal Military Asylum, Chelsea, Middlesex, 1804-48. A forceful preacher, much beloved by the Chelsea pensioners. Came of a race of Puritan divines, chiefly bearing the name of Samuel and eminent through many generations. Chaplain to the Duke of Cambridge. Married Clara, dau. of Thomas Dicey, of Claybrook Hall, Leics., Sept. 23, 1806. Died Jan. 21, 1848, at Kensington. Buried at Chelsea. Father of Charles R. (1834). (Burke, L.G., 1925; G.
