  Adm. Scholar at CHRIST'S, May 25, 1764. Appears neither in the Adm. Book, nor in the ' Matric. Reg. Probably resided from Michs. 1763 to Lady Day, 1766. Ord. deacon (Norwich) Nov. 6, 1768; priest, Aug. 15, 1773; C. of Dallinghoe, Suffolk, 1768. C. of Alderton, Suffolk, 1773; and of Bawdsey, 1773. V. of Little Clacton, Essex, 1784-94 and 1797-1811. R. of Easton, Suffolk, 1787-1811. V. of Framsden, 1792-1811. A clever mechanic; invented a screw for the elevation of guns, for which he received a pension from the Government; also invented a flying machine, with which it is said he attempted to fly from the top of his church tower. Died June 21, 1811, aged 66. Buried at Framsden. (Peile, II. 275.)
