Domestic Chaplain to the Duke of Sussex. R. of Otley, Suffolk, 1803-10. Married Elizabeth, dau. of James Blatch, of Colchester, Dec. 1, 1796. Caused a sensation in Norfolk in 1801 by sending a challenge to Major Edward Payne alleging an insult to the challenger's father; the Major prosecuted and the case was tried in the Court of King's Bench, the militant priest being sentenced to three weeks' imprisonment and ordered to find sureties to keep the peace.
