There are various John Burtons, but the coincidence of dates between the ordination as priest and the institution as V of Rowsham suggest that these records belong to the same person. HOwever, the fact that the patron of Chesterton is New College suggests that CCE ID11490, rather than this person, was V of Chesterton, pace the comments in Foster.
