Thee seems to be a good deal of confusion about this man's career, and he is confused with another of the same name who was one of the Westminster Divines and a DD from 1648, who died in 1657 (DNB); Venn and Foster point out the confusion but appointments to Syderstone and Northrepps in Norfolk appear particularly confused and there is a suggestion that both men, although not closely, if at all, related, were at different times at these benefices.
The closest so far to this man is
Venn: matric. pens, from CHRIST'S July 1620; BA 1623; MA 1627; R of Syderston, Norfolk 1628; R of Northrepps 1636-62; R of Sidestrand 1661-2; ejected from Northrepps and Sidestrand 1661.
Calamy, who says he should not be confused with the other, confirms the ejection and says he died in the locality very soon after ejection (Calamy-Palmer 2. 203) Biographical Register of Christ' College 1505-1905 gives similar information, including the dates for the Norfolk benefices; however as Foster states the other Edward Corbet was R of Syderston from 1628-45 and of Northrepps in 1636 before going to Chartham, Kent in 1643 there is some doubt about who was where when. The Kenchester appointments are for now left here as the death date fits and the area was land held as lordships and manors by the various branches of the Corbet(t) family
