Was the subject of a series of violent attacks by William Cobbett in his Weekly Political Register, in consequence of having organised in his own parish the principles of Poor Law administration afterwards adopted by the Poor Law Commission for the whole kingdom. Married, July, 1803, Ellen, dau. of the Rev. Reginald Pyndar, of Hadsor House, Worcs., and had issue; their 2nd son, Robert, became the 1st Viscount Sherbrooke, May 25, 1880. Died Jan. 23, 1845, at Bingham, aged 65
